Riding Lessons at Creek Hill Farms

OUR APPROACH: BUILT ON A STRONG FOUNDATION

At Creek Hill Farms, we teach every rider the basics step by step — with safety and horse care at the heart of everything we do. Through individual (beginners) and small group (intermediate/advanced) instruction in a caring community, we keep pricing honest and accessible.

Regular practice is the foundation of safe, confident riding — and the key to progressing toward cantering and jumping. We require a minimum of once per week, or four times per month, following your introductory lesson, with two lessons per week highly recommended for the fastest growth.

Our Riding Pathway

Beginner

Beginner riders start on the ground learning to lead, brush, and tack up. Once mounted, riders develop balance, steering, and control through the walk and posting trot. As skills grow, advanced beginners add the canter.

Intermediate/Group Lessons

Intermediate riders transition into group lessons, where they develop low-level jumping skills and have the option to begin showing.

Advanced/Group
Lessons

Advanced riders take on more challenging jumping, venture outside the arena with trail riding, and prepare to compete at shows*.

*For our advanced riders we offer special Creek Hill Farms shows: in-house, fun, friendly competitions that are perfect for first-timers. A great way to test your skills in a real show environment without the pressure of rated competition.

“I highly recommend coming here for lessons. Julie is amazing. She has a great teaching technique and demeanor — very encouraging while working with my 11 year old daughter who is a first time rider. She doesn't just teach you how to ride, she shows her students how to be responsible with your horse and how to care for it.”

Sarah M.

“I've been a client of Julie's for over 7 years and would recommend it to anyone! Julie teaches her riders in a safe and effective way while customizing each lesson to you and your horse. Creek Hill is a drama free, fun barn — something that is hard to find in the equestrian world!! A true hidden gem!”

Claire W.

“Words cannot describe how amazing Julie is as a riding instructor. Her teaching style is tailored to each rider; there's no set deadline or timing. That's what I loved most about her program — she truly personalizes her lessons to fit your progress.”
